5. Log time and watch the balance

Log time on service desk tickets, and see the contract balance go down on the ticket, the service desk dashboard and the client's portal.

Time in Timelint is always logged against a ticket, so the contract balance is just the sum of the work your team has logged.

Log time on a ticket

Open a ticket and, in the Time panel, either:

  • choose Start timer while you work, then stop it and add a note; or
  • choose Log time to record work you've already done. Enter the Duration (1h 30m, 90m), the Date, and optionally a start time and a Description.

Leave Billable ticked for work that should count against the client's support contract. Untick it for work you're absorbing yourselves.

Where the balance shows

  • On the ticket. The Contract impact panel shows time tracked on this ticket and the contract balance.
  • On the service desk dashboard. It shows the contract's balance, what's been used and the monthly allowance, alongside a chart of contracted against used time.
  • On the client's portal. Their Support balance page shows the same numbers. See 6. Invite your client to the portal.

The balance only counts billable time on in-contract tickets, and only if the contract's consumption basis is Tracked time. See 4. Add a support contract.

Reviewing time

Timesheets in the sidebar shows everyone's logged time on a calendar, with filters and CSV export. See Time tracking and timesheets.
