Most Jira fields exist because someone once needed them. Agencies usually need far fewer fields to ship work.
This guide helps you decide what to keep.

Keep these (usually)
- Title / summary
- Description
- Status
- Priority
- Assignee
- Reporter/requester
- Labels/tags (a small set)
Consider dropping these
- Custom fields nobody can define in one sentence
- Duplicate “category” fields
- Fields that exist only for reporting, not for shipping
Replace with simple habits
- Use ticket status definitions (short, explicit)
- Use a triage checklist
- Keep client updates on the ticket thread
